It’s A Summer Day!

Aren’t we all just a little sick of winter? If it isn’t snowing, it’s too damn cold and the “no leaves” landscape is depressing. And don’t get me started on the wind.

So let’s get away from this miserable weather … well, not literally but let’s do it musically by playing a bunch of summer songs. Or would you rather check your thermometer before you go outside to shovel? Ignore that thermometer. Leave the shovel where it is.

Go ahead, use your imagination. It’s summer time! πŸ™‚

I like the way you think Ray. Sly is the perfect way to start. Even in this relatively tame outing. he gets the party started. I miss his energy. Meat Loaf covers a lot in his song cars, girls, sports he had it all going on! I love the way Sheryl Crow can slow things down but keep the vibe going. For me her relaxed manner is infectious. I really enjoy her music. The Rivieras, straightforward Rock & Roll. I can picture them in a garage on a Summer day just banging out songs and having a ball. Gary Lewis, just one of the guys hoping his gril will stay true to him. The Kinks, thank you Ray, what a great song! Singing about a guy resigned to his fate, but hey, it’s Summertime. When I hear Kenny Chesney I think of sand, cowboy hats & flip flops. How does a cowboy get to the beach? I don’t know but Kenny takes me there. Carlos Santana, a true survivor, playing smooth music for over 50 years. What a cool guy. Speaking of cool guys, the Rascals sure qualified in that category. They made so many great hits. I can’t name a Drifters song that I don’t like. They are a treasure. Nat King Cole pretty much captures Summer in about 2 minutes. Well Ray you did it without being obvious and going the The Beach Boys or Jan & Dean. It would have been OK if you did. I guess you misplaced your stopwatch today, 39 minutes and 2 seconds, wow, is that a record? You got us to the weekend with lots of good music. Once again, thank you Ray for a week of great music and memories. As I always say, You da Man! Rock on Ray!

Outstanding commentary, Don! (not that I’m surprised) πŸ™‚
The comments on each artist were great (not surprised again).
I swear I said to myself, “The Beach Boys would be much too obvious so skip them.
I believe, without looking it up, that a Tom Petty medley lasted around 1 hour, 15 minutes, and I have done a few others that clocked in around 40-45 minutes. Either way, this one is the longest in a long, long time. I was inspired.:)
Have a great weekend and ROCK ON, BRO!

Today I was able to tune in before the second half of my webinar. I’m glad I did because these selections will keep the sunshine shining on my day. While I sit all day at the computer, I will pretend my toes are in the sand. Imagination is a powerful thing so I think this was a great idea for a medley! Thanks for the sunshine and the smiles! πŸ™‚ XOXOXOXO πŸ™‚

Ray you were really Sly this am you said you were serving Meat Loaf yet Crow was the catch of the day! I guess you better sleep on it!! Just close your eyes and think about going to the Rivieras with the Playboys! Now if you want to get the Kinks out take a walk under the board walk! I often think of those Rascals Chesney and Santana sipping wine talking about our world! Then in the back of my mind I hear a voice saying take a walk holding hands or maybe just make out!! Hold on tight Ray it’s Friday!! Stay safe!!

When I saw the summertime theme, I had to overcome my obstacles(lack of privacy & ear bud problems) & find a way to listen. I was not disappointed. Great songs and cabin fever gone for a short while. AND…Fred killed it today!!

    1. Ray (Post author)

Pat, thanks for finding a way! πŸ™‚
I hope you noticed I included Nat this time, just as I promised you I would the last time I put together a summer-themed medley.:)
Fred did kill it! His best work ever.
