Musical Christmas Gifts

Today I begin playing the songs that represent the real meaning of Christmas.

There are songs from well-known artists and songs from artists you may not be familiar with, such as a young Canadian singer (right after Elvis) and a high school choral group which included my grandson Dylan (following Nat King Cole).

Familiar or not, all of these songs are about the spirit of Christmas and I hope you enjoy them.

Good Morning Ray. What a nice set today. A nice relaxing tribute to the upcoming holiday. I enjoyed the surprises , good to hear new songs or new takes on old favorites. You are doing a fine job setting the tone of the season. Thank you for making the start to my day festive. Mellow rules the day.

      Good Morning, Don.
I appreciate the kind words. I’m trying my best to set that tone and I think the next two days will (hopefully) complete that mission.
      STAY MELLOW, BRO!

This was a great mix of familiar and new (Silver and Gold) artists and songs! To take Go Tell It On The Mountain ( πŸ™‚ ) and roll right into Feliz Navidad is a perfect example of these combinations! Festive and Mellow, indeed! Thank you for yet another generous gift of music! XOXOXOXO

      Thank you, Wendyl ❀️
I included Aselin because I remember you introducing that song to me several years ago and I fell in love with it. The Superlatives? … well, that was a natural. πŸ˜‰
This has been a fun stretch of music but it’s going to get even more mellow over the next two days.
      XOXOXOXO

      Thank you, Fred. πŸ™‚
Santa has, I suspect, a few tricks up his sleeve so yes, he will make it!
Thanks for the nice words about Dylan. ❀️

Little did I realize that I would scroll down a bit and there the three would be …. loved that you added a song with Dylan’s choral group …. I must say listening to this one brings back memories from when we were young(er) — much younger! Christmas was simpler as was life itself … but we were so happy to open our stocking and find fruit inside … a tradition at our house. Our tree from Rabtoy’s always had a hole in it and we would laugh as we turned it so the best part faced front … and when we put the tinsel on my mother made sure we didn’t throw it on – one piece at a time was the rule … 65 years later I miss those times … so thank you for sharing music that we listened to when life was simple and we we had so many family members with us that are not here today…. Rock this Day Mr. Music Man ….

Barbara, thank you for sharing those wonderful memories! My mother felt the same way about the tinel … one strand at a time. I thought we were the only family that woke up to a piece of fruit in our stockings (and ribbon candy). πŸ™‚

Life was much simpler and I cherish those memories. Thank you for waking them up.

Thanks for mentioning Dylan’s choral group. One of my favorite memories was watching him step forward at their final concert when he was a senior and singing a solo verse of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’. I was so proud of him (I still am, 10 years later). ❀️

      ROCK THE MEMORIES!

Beautiful music. Love to hear songs we don’t hear as much. Thank you Music Man.

Donna, it is always a labor of love for me. Thank you, as always, for taking the time to listen. πŸ™‚
