Another No Theme Medley!

Column regular Don Doyle left a great comment on yesterday’s No Theme medley.

Referring to my decision to abandon a “theme” for the medley, Don said, “The freedom of picking any song you like, just because you feel like it. I’m sure it was liberating.

It sure was, Don. It felt so good that I decided to take the same approach today … with one exception. Today happens to be the birthday of nine-year old Jonathan K (that explains the gift next to the 45 in the photo below) and so the first song is being sent out to him! πŸ™‚

First things first, Happy Birthday Jonathan K! I hope you have a GREAT DAY!
Chuck Berry always gets the party started. No matter what he is singing about, he is having fun. Dion somehow makes being lonely sound not so bad.
Bobby Vee and Roy Orbison both sing with a sense of urgency in their voices. Bobby always is a fast paced positive sounding message. Roy however is a more deliberate slower much more serious tone. It is interesting how both styles are so effective.
I don’t remember Paul being such a fan of Ballroom dancing.. I think he might be watching too much TV.
Thanks Ray for another interesting start to the day.

      Thank you, Don.
I HAD to start the medley for Jonathan. He is a remarkable young man (and I would guess he’s a Johnny B. Goode kind of youngster most of the time). πŸ˜‰
I have always felt that Dion had a certain kind of “swagger” when he sang and your point about the difference in the approach Vee and Orbison took to their music is spot on!
I ended with McCartney because when I do solo Beatles stuff, I tend to focus on George or John, plus I wanted to end on an upbeat song. πŸ™‚
      ROCK ON, BRO!

  2. ROSE

Thank you for thinking of Jonathan today, and always. I am so blessed to have this miracle boy in my life <3

      Thank you, Rose.
When I think of how much he had to overcome when he was born, I know how much of a miracle boy he is. So much praise has to go to his mother who never backed down from the challenges, and yes, his grandmother who prayed so long and so hard.
Can you picture this guy at 18? Wow! He’s already halfway there! ❀️
