It’s Sunday and that means it’s time to get mellow, right? That’s only half right this week.
During this 42-minute medley of music from Neil Young, the first 17 minutes features the “softer” side of his career, but at the 17:20 mark, the music shifts into something a little, um, more electric. 🙂
And then, the final two minutes brings it back to the very mellow end.

The Neil Young Medley
Ray I don’t know how you did it. I have often attempted to make a Neil playlist but I just wound up putting everything I have on the list. I couldn’t do it. So many songs and all of them favorites. I know as a true fan you must have wrestled with the same problem.
Neil’s songs just consistently speak to me. I know you broke your 20 minute standard, you more than doubled it, but i would have had to add at least 3 more songs. Powderfinger, Thrasher and Prairie Wind. Those songs came along at a time in my life when it seemed like he wrote them just for me. I listened to them over and over. I just related to them so well.
You had what I consider an impossible job assembling this medley but you rose to the occasion and did a fine job. Thank you brother, you Rock.
Thank you, Don.
The problem with doing a “legacy” medley is there is never enough time to include all the songs you can add. I seriously considered Powderfinger for the “mellow” portion, but there were so many others I left off (both segments): Cinnamon Girl, Cowgirl In The Sand, Only Love Can Break Your Heart, the list just goes on and on. There are more than enough songs, in fact, that I’d say a Part 2 may very well be in the cards.
Rock The Day, my brother!
Can’t help but love all sides of Neil Young! Thanks for putting these together for us.
Thanks, Donna. If it put a smile on your face, my mission was accomplished. 🙂
