I will begin by letting you know that I am fully aware of the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
I know for example that Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle.
Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for their sacrifices, but it also honors all of those who have served the country in war or peace – dead or alive.
And finally … some of the songs in this medley reference the fact that not all of the brave men and women who fought valiantly for this nation – especially those who fought in Vietnam – received the gratitude of a thankful nation. It would be wrong to ignore that fact and pretend they were welcomed home as the heroes they most certainly were.

Big & Rich – Billy Joel – Barry Sadler

Ray this is a wonder tribute to all who have served. It is hard to imagine the level of sacrifice made by all our veterans. The artists you have chosen, with their heartfelt expressions, have attempted to express an almost impossible range of emotions. I think they did a fine job. It is interesting to note that the majority of the artists here are Country.
We can never repay our veterans for their service but I hope we can convey our everlasting gratitude.
Thank you Ray for putting this tribute together.
Thank you, Don.
I sincerely appreciate your kind words. I am going to be honest and tell you I shed a few tears while putting this medley together. You’re right about the majority of artists coming from the Country genre. They do it better than anyone.
Thank you again, my friend.
I also agree Don’s words said it perfectly. This is a powerful medley and an amazing tribute and reminder of the debt of gratitude we owe to our Veterans. Even songs I’ve heard in the past revealed themselves to me in more meaningful ways when combined with the other songs. I guess what I’m trying to say is the collection of songs, genres and artists cause me to pause and really focus on the enormity of all they’ve given. Superb and meaningful…thank you so much! XOXOXOXO
Thank you, Wendyl ❤️
They all deserve more … so much more
XOXOXOXO
Thank you for helping us properly commemorate this Day of Remembrance
Thank you, Mary Helen. It was an honor.
Ray what an outstanding job you did in the selection that you’ve made commemorating Veterans Day for all of those who served and fought for our freedom. We can never appreciate enough what they have done for us and still continue to do to this day. The song selection was so awesome and so well expressed, and I’m still sitting here with tears in my eyes. Certainly touched a nerve in all of us. Wonderful and very moving.
Sandy, thank you so very much.
As I responded to Don, I had a few tears in my eyes when I was putting it together.
What a powerful and great set of songs Ray …… you did it again!!!!!!! I truly feel what Veterans Day is and these songs definitely mirror that! As you know, I can go on and on about our Veterans but am a bit emotionally drained right now. I listened when I got up this morning, just got home from the cemetery and am listening again! Bless you and have a nice day!
Penny,
I know a lot of days are tough for you but in particular it is days like Memorial Day and Veterans Day that I think of your loss and heartache the most. Dennis and his comrades in Vietnam were heroes, each and every single one of them, and they deserved a hell of a lot better recognition and gratitude when they got back.
It is for Dennis and every soldier who fought over there that I added songs about a nation turning their back on their heroes. That may not be the sentiment everyone is thinking of on this days of remembrance, but it is never going to slip my mind.
God Bless You ❤️
Thank you for these songs and for the special recognition for my our generation’s heroes in Vietnam.
Donna, it was an honor.
