1964 Vintage Medley / Part 6

Time to wrap our look back at the music of 1964 … and there’s something extra (and special) included in this medley. Wendy Plante is going to make not one, but two appearances between songs as she reprises her days as a DJ on the Oldies Stream from yesteryear!

If you cheated and looked down at the list of songs, you noticed there are three Beatles songs but if you think that’s too much, consider how popular – to say nothing about important – they were that year.
I actually considered playing nothing but Beatles songs today but in the end I decided to point out the wide variety of tunes we all listened to.

As always, I have placed each song’s peak chart position in parentheses beside the artist name.

One Quick Note: I am going to take a couple of weeks off (and before anyone panics, it’s got nothing to do with my health. I feel GREAT!) I just want some time away from this computer. I promise I’ll be back!

Happy Friday!!! How fun is it to hear those classic liners from Streamingoldies.com!!! Then add in the fact that every single song in this medley is fantastic! This gives me exactly what I need to finish up the week (but I’m guessing you already knew that, Sweet Daddy 🙂 ) I will be listening again later too. So glad you’re taking a break. We all need to do that now and then! XOXOXOXO

      Thanks, Wendyl ♥️
I wanted a Beach Boys song from 64 (there were so many to choose from) but I knew it had to be Wendy. Once I was done mixing that, the idea of inserting a couple of your liners came to me. It just seemed too perfect an opportunity to pass up!
      XOXOXOXO

      Thanks, Penny 🙂
It’s always nice to know the music helps you out. That’s the goal!
I WILL enjoy the break! ♥️

The week long medleys of recent have provided us with perfect motivation to “refinish” our retro entertainment center. As you know we are planning to resurrect our vinyl collection that has been in storage since moving in 2006. We have played each of this week’s medleys several times and resampled many of your excellent previous offerings.
Take a break and enjoy the spectacular New England fall colors. We look forward to your return, in the mean time it’s memory lane via vinyl for us.

      Thanks Marty and Karen 🙂
While I’m sorry the “surprise” Karen and I tried to pull off didn’t work out as planned, I’m very happy the entertainment center project is moving ahead! If the medleys inspired the project in any way, I am both flattered and pleased.
Those New England colors are already starting to appear in some places but the real blast of beauty is still a few weeks off.
Stay Safe … and Viva La Vinyl 🙂

I say yeah, yeah, yeah. Great medley today, Ray. Surprised by a couple things: If I Fell In Love With You, only 53, and Wendy only 44?? Great job as DJ, Wendy. Must say favorite of this “country girl” is Chug-A-Lug. Hope you have great vacation and enjoy the great fall weather, Ray. Will go back and listen to these medleys while you are gone.

      Thanks, Pat 🙂
Capitol Records released so many Beatle songs as singles in 1964 (a new one every 3-4 weeks!) that some of them were just climbing up the charts when a new one came out and stopped their momentum.
I’m rather partial to Wendythe song and the DJ 😉 … ♥️
There is going to come a day when I devote an entire medley to Pat Conant Country Favorites … I swear!
I’ll do my best to enjoy doing nothing for a few weeks. It won’t be easy but I AM going to try.

      1. Pat Conant

Thanks, Ray-look forward to those country favorites.

It will be my pleasure. 🙂

Love ❤️ these songs. I tried to tell a tale but I was too busy dancing and singing! We had such great music!

Thank you as always! I hope you enjoy your “time off”. We will miss you but will keep playing your gifts!

      Thanks, Donna 🙂
I am enjoying it … very much!

Another great group of memories … this time my favorite was Gerry & the Pacemakers ….. Johnny Rivers a close second. Must admit I loved both of The Beatles songs in today’s mix. Yes I’ll say it again – they were on fire that year!

I agree with the group – enjoy the fall colors and a break from all of this … we will be here waiting for your return …. Rock the Fall Days Ray!

      Thanks, Barbara.
The fall colors were beautiful but sure didn’t last long!
      Rock The Vacation!
