1965 Vintage Medley / Part 6

After yesterday’s completion of the playback of the twenty-seven # 1 songs in 1965, you might be thinking that means the end of the wonderful music playing on the radio that year.
Wrong … Wrong … Wrong
There were several songs that reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, while many, many others reached the Top 10.
Below is a medley of 12 songs that may not have hit the top of the charts but each and every single one of them is a timeless treasure from 1965. I have indicated below their peak position on the charts next to the artists’ names.
As usual, there were so many songs that weren’t played because I ran out of days again! Songs like I’ll Never Find Another You, California Girls, Ferry Cross The Mersey, The Seventh Son, I Know A Place, Heart Full Of Soul, The Name Game, Baby I’m Yours, Bye Bye Baby, Tell Her No, How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You), Go Now, I Go To Pieces, Five O’ Clock World, I Want Candy, It’s Not Unusual, You Were On My Mind, and Do You Believe in Magic.
Yeah, 1965 was one hell of a great year for music.

Oh my goodness I’d forgotten most on the the list of those where time ran out —- another “opportunity” for a look back another time. Yes the music of the time was the best …. thank you for another great walk down memory lane this week….. Rock the Day my friend

      Thank, Barbara πŸ™‚
There will be a return to all of the years I have spent time on in the past few weeks, but first I have two more very special years coming up … although there will be a one-week delay because I will be tied up for most of next week.
But I promise I will be back on September 11.
      ROCK THIS LABOR DAY WEEKEND!

    Hi Ray. Great mix here.
The Mamas & Poppas always hit it out of the park. Their first album was nothing but hit after hit. Wish they could have gone on forever.
Gary Lewis sure made happy music. So bouncy and catchy. The real deal pop music.
The first time I heard The Kinks I thought my head would explode! Guess what, it never stopped. I love all their work. If only Ray & Dave could get along. Also that stupid drug nonsense that kept them out of the States.
Sam the Sham, what a nit case! Anytime I saw him perform he looked like he was having so much fun.
Herman’s Hermits, I was almost embarrassed at how much I liked them. How could I be Cool if I admitted I was a fan?
Bob Dylan, The Animals , you out did yourself today my friend.

This entire week was a blast but playing a few of the songs that didn’t make it to #1 was the cherry on top!

WOW is right, surprised some of these did not hit #1. Have enjoyed this week immensely. Hope everything goes well for you next week, and look forward to your return.

Ray the billboard was getting hot so I stopped into a church and I got down on my kness and I asked to be counted to. You knowI have a heart full of soul, anyways I noticed this playboy(looked a little kinky)Ray he looked at me(man I thought he was the seventh son)and said he wanted some candy!! I asked him if he believed in magic? Ray he said it’s not unusual to see a Pharaoh so I’m thinking how sweet is that. He said I should take the ferry across the mersey and look for the lady selling love potion #9!! Ray I went to pieces! I started looking at the birds and the bees and I decided I know a place where I could get some candy!! It felt like I had some California girls and I knew I wouldnt make it till the end of time so I told them we gotta get out of here they all said bye bye baby!! Ray I realized this was just a sham so I went back to rolling stones!!

Sorry to repeat myself but WICKED AWESOME. All of these songs are number ones for me! Makes you feel young and old at the same time! Isn’t it amazing how we remember all the words? 1965 seemed to hav e a little of everything..rock, pop, soul…fun and serious. All to a backdrop of a war that divided the country. But in our teenage angst we got to enjoy music that was so good it is being used for movies, ads, and re-recorded by new artists. Thanks for the memories, Ray…you rock! You make us feel Good!
