We wrap up our journey back to 1967 with songs that reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 – and as discussed throughout the week, that was no easy task.
The medley includes a song by the Rolling Stones that started out as a B-Side, a Turtles’ song mistaken for a love song when it was actually a fantasy (the first words – “Imagine me and you” – should have given it away), a song from the Doors’ debut album, the last single to feature the word “Young” for the Rascals, and a father-daughter duet.
And of course, the Beatles fit in quite nicely when you consider 1967 is fondly remembered as the “Summer of Love”.
Before you play the medley, I want to point out just a few other songs from 1967 that I didn’t have time to play this week (primarily because you probably don’t want 45- minute+ medleys every day).
Brown Eyed Girl, Up, Up and Away, Western Union, Release Me, C’mon Marianne, (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher, White Rabbit, My Back Pages, I Dig Rock and Roll Music, On A Carousel, Let’s Live For Today, Bernadette, I Think We’re Alone Now, The Beat Goes On, 98.6, I Can See For Miles and Pretty Ballerina.
None of them reached #1 but they were all part of that incredible year of music.
Now then, let’s get to that medley!

We sat there grovin(it was a sunday afternoon)and having a drink or two’ after awhile I could see in Nancys eyes that all she really needed was some love! Ray I can see for miles and miles and I could see that
she was a brown eyed girl and she really liked rock and roll music and just wanted to live fo today!! I just kept getting higher and higher and Frank asked me if I fed my turtles beatles and I told him only on ruby tuesdays!! I swear I saw a white rabbit!! Anyway Ray the beat goes on!!
Damn, Fred, you are rockin’ these summaries!
A big time A+ for you today!
Rock On, maestro 🙂
I kinda feel like I’ve been wallowing in the mire this week. Pre-op is done and now we wait for a time Tuesday. The end of the week has been much less frustrating than the first part – and I love coming home to the music …thanks for giving us the best music has or has had … it makes every day better …. yes 1967 was a great year in music – but I have to think 1968 is going to blow us all away. Thanks for Rocking another Day Ray — all we really need is love!
Thanks, Barbara. 🙂
I know this has been a difficult week for you and I am glad the music helped to calm your nerves.
1968 WILL blow you away!
ROCK THE WEEKEND!
I don’t want to leave 1967. My last year of innocence. I think we need another week and to hear all the songs on the list!
So much great music, how do you choose?
Thank you. If you lay the music, they will come.
Thanks, Donna.
Trust me, 1968 is going to be the same way. So many great songs and not enough days to play them.

Thanks, Penny 🙂
I hope you also enjoy 1968 music, beginning on Sunday. 🙂
