It Was 51 Years Ago…

It was the year Woodstock, Chappaquiddick, Apollo 11, The Vietnam Draft, Midnight Cowboy, Charles Manson, the Chicago Eight, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, The Brady Bunch, Sesame Street, Wendy’s, and the New York Jets were all in the news.

And there was great music. Today we begin a rest-of-the-week look back at some of the songs that were blasting out of car radios and playing on something called record players during that vintage year.

      Thanks, Penny 🙂
If you promise to play nice today, I’ll play more memories tomorrow. 😉

These terrific tunes from 1969 have boosted my mood!

I needed something to ease my troubled mind. Social distancing is responsible but one thing I can tell you is you got to be free. The poet, the physician, the farmer, the scientist, the magician and the other so-called gods of our legends are working on finding a cure. I’m trying my best to be patient but I can’t wait until lonely days are gone. I know a new day is coming, woo-hoo! Maybe someday you’ll see my face among the crowd without a mask on.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s musical respite 🙂 XOXOXOXO

      Love it, Wendyl! 🙂
For you, connecting the dots is an almost mystical thing. It just flows… <3
Try to stay cool in this miserably hot weather. 🙁
      XOXOXOXO

      Thanks, Donna 🙂
Wendy is very awesome at “connecting the dots” when it comes to music. 🙂

OK is it cheating that I listened to Part 2 first? So much happened that year — on all fronts …. love listening to all of these once again … not blasting out of the car radio OR on the record player (although those were both great options at the time). Music was good then and is still good today. Thanks Ray for a look back – looking forward to the rest of the week. Rock the Day!

      Thank you, Barbara 🙂
It is not cheating at all. 😉

It was an extraordinary year, and while the music may not have measured up to 1968 (naturally), it was still very good.
Rock The Day! (and don’t be surprised if a week of ’68 music shows up here very soon)!
