“There’s something happening here
What it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it’s time we stop, children, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down”
~Stephen Stills
I’m spending this week putting together medleys of the songs that made up the soundtrack of MY teenage life. 1964 and 1965 are in the books so let’s turn to 1966.
Folk-Rock was suddenly the rage and it showed up consistently in my music choices that year. There was still time for British (and American) rock but I had suddenly started checking out more American folk-rock artists.
All in all, it was an extraordinary year for music.

Soundtrack To My Life 1966 Medley
Young Rascals – Troggs – Lovin’ Spoonful
Beatles – The Who – Byrds – Bob Dylan
Cyrkle – Simon & Garfunkel – Paul Revere & The Raiders
Buffalo Springfield – Beach Boys
I found myself looking for this post as soon as I signed on to FB this morning ā¦ it’s interesting to listen to the music of the 60’s again… this time with a different perspective … remembering what was happening in the world then. Love the lyrics quote at the top. Looking forward to ’67 and ’68 ā¦.
Thanks, Barbara.
It’s only going to get better and better! š
great songs .. nothing beats the 60’s / 70’s for music!! Great way to get through first part of the day! Thank you Ray!
Thank you, Penny. š
Music is the great healer!
I loved every single minute of this! I was kind of thinking, a lot of this could apply to today only on a different type of scale. Maybe Iām the only person who thinks that way but, Iām always trying to put things into a different perspective. This was great Ray I enjoyed it so much! Thank you thank you
Thank you, Sandy. š
You’re not the only one thinking that way. Several people have commented that some of the songs in yesterday and today’s medleys could apply to our world right now.
And the medleys coming up the rest of this week certainly will!
Love listening to the best of the 60’s.65-68 was your first year at Springfield High School. It was also my first year teaching. Loved you guys.
Thanks, Coach … I will never be able to call you Larry. It’s a respect thing š
And WE loved YOU!
Stooped in memories …
Music creates memories some of us had forgotten. š
“Music is a string which weaves us together through moments in time, triumphs and tragedies, composing the fabric of our lives.” Loved this medley! Thanks for sharing your memories with us!
Thanks, Wendyl … Perfect quote!
XOXOXOXO
Makes one wistful.
