My 1965 Soundtrack!

“And Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot fighting in the captain’s tower, while calypso singers laugh at them and fishermen hold flowers. Between the windows of the sea where lovely mermaids flow, and nobody has to think too much about Desolation Row.”
~Bob Dylan

With retirement beginning on May 4, I’m doing my best to go out on a high, ahem, “note”.
I’m putting together medleys of the songs that made up the soundtrack of MY teenage years, and with 1964 in the rear view mirror, it’s time to see what I was listening to in 1965.
I was still more (pardon the pun) “in tune” with British artists, but if a certain singer/songwriter had escaped my attention in 1963 and 64, he certainly didn’t in 1965.
I was suddenly enthralled with the music of Bob Dylan and remain so today. 55 years after its release, the song epic masterpiece that ends this medley is one of the 10 songs I would want require if I was stranded on an island.

So I have to ask – what would other ten songs be if you were stranded on an island? Love that we all get to listen to some of the best music of our times. If we close our eyes we are back in the 60’s …. thank you Ray …. I hope our entire class listens to this week’s music … Be well my friend …. and stay safe….

I feel such pride in knowing this music the way I do. It fills me with incredible happiness and peace and floods my memories of times spent listening to these tunes with YOU! As only one example, my first Bob Dylan memory is sitting with you and Karen and using my yellow harmonica at probably 5 years old, maybe 4. I know you and your generation feel the connection deep in your heart and soul but I can honestly say, to a very large extent, I do as well.

You’ve done 1965 proud with exceptional selections. I also love your list in response to Barb’s thoughtful question. Some, as you know, were no surprise to me, but some were and it was great to read and think about.

Thanks for the sunshine on this dreary day, Music Master 🙂

      Thank you, Wendyl. 🙂

Such sweet memories of those “music with the girls” days (and that yellow harmonica). 🙂

I know the songs of the Sixties resonate very strongly with you. You were a lot more than a “Beatle Baby” … you absorbed all of it!

      Dreary day, indeed!
      STAY SAFE!
      XOXOXOXO
