“We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.”
~John Lennon
Thirty-nine years ago today, the life of John Lennon came to a violent and tragic end. All the love in the world couldn’t protect him from a madman who was hell bent on his mission to achieve some kind of twisted fame.
It’s all too easy to say that the lunatic robbed us of a chance to see what Lennon still had to deliver. But that wasn’t – and still isn’t – what was important on that December night.
It was John Lennon who was robbed; cheated out of a chance to live.
I remember…just like it was yesterday. I look forward to listening to these songs I know like the back of my hand thanks to you. Thanks from Your Beatle Baby.
❤ Enjoy! ❤
Sobering to be reminded of his death. A fine musician’s music and lyrics remain -and so a life well lived.
Thank you, Liz. Very well said.
