“The hippie scene on Haight Street in San Francisco was so very visual that photographers came from everywhere to shoot it, reporters came from everywhere to write it up, and opportunists came from everywhere to exploit it.”
~ Mark Harris
Dan P. wanted to know if I could do another medley from 1967. The answer is of course I can, Dan.
Here’s what was playing on turntables and radio stations 52 years ago.

Another great set from our past…love love loved the first song π <3
So did I, Nancy! β€
It’s not for the sake of this song but for your own peace of mind on a warm San Francisco night. So, if you are going to San Francisco be sure to wear flowers in your hair. I feel it in my toes love is all around me, it’s everywhere I go. They call me mellow yellow, I had too much to drink last night as I staggered from my bed. Just close your eyes and she will be there, so happy together. I can’t see me loving nobody but you, girl you are gonna be a woman soon, soon you are gonna need a man. Come take my hand, I read the news today, A crowd of people turned away but I just had to look! She’s here by me, all summer long we were dancing in the sand, let tomorrow be.
Nicely done, Penny! Sort of flows β€
Ray, catching up and lovinβ this music!
Have been taking advantage of the spring weather here and getting some wind therapy and working with Vets.
Finalizing plans to be in New England last week of July and first 3 weeks of August. I am π no forward to seeing you and many other friends during that time.
Keep the tunes coming my friend!
Marty, I don’t blame you for trying to take advantage of the weather. I just wish we could finally get some decent weather here!
I’m looking forward to your visit. It has been too long!
The tunes will keep right on coming so enjoy!
loved them all Ray — and the memories they bring back β¦ such a good time in our lives – and we were sheltered from so much β¦ BTW mind if I ask what prompted you to go to CA? Thanks again — and so hope Marty does get back this summer β¦.
They were some of the best years of our lives, Barbara. Of course we had no idea at the time what was being hidden from our eyes and ears.
I moved to CA in late 1968 because I desperately wanted to find out what was beyond Springfield and Vermont. I became a long-haired hippie who became totally absorbed in the California “sex, drugs and rock & roll” lifestyle. I don’t regret anything I did but I sure wouldn’t do it today!
Marty will be here π
must say I’m glad you came home….
So am I π
Well, those were memorable years~! The songs reflect so many great times that we had as teens. Thank you for your dedication to “keeping us young” … in our minds, if nothing else π I too am hoping to see Marty when he is back in NE this Summer.
Suzanne, as long as your mind stays young, you stay young. π
