Time to continue the ongoing series of songs you probably thought were major hits but never even reached the Top 40.
We start today’s medley with a Beatles song that reached #1 on the British charts but failed to hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart when it was released in 1963. Next up is one of John Fogerty’s most revered solo songs. Surely that hit the Top 40, right? Wrong.
The Band chimes in next with an iconic tune most people assume was a Top 10 hit. Nope, it didn’t even reach the Top 60! And then there’s the Talking Heads with another very well known song, but again, it failed to reach the Top 50.
Finally, we close out the medley with a Rolling Stones classic. A classic, yes, but another song that failed to hit the Top 40.

Ray I think what happened was Fogerty was talking to the Beatles about a Talking Head and they decided to Roll Some stones instead!!
All great songs Ray!! It amazes me how you take the time to do this for us!!
Fred, you crack me up with your song commentary! I appreciate your comment about the amount of time this takes. Believe me, I have a lot of fun doing it. 🙂
It is amazing how many of these songs don’t make top 40…they would all make it with today’s songs.
Nancy, most of these are shockers, and yeah, they are all better than most of today’s music.
Another great set of songs Ray!! I am surprised a couple of these didn’t chart higher.
Thanks, Penny. I’m surprised all of them didn’t chart higher. 🙂
