“What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.”
~Agnes M. Pharo
Today’s medley includes a country music trio; another spoken piece I did as the morning man at WCFR in my hometown of Springfield, VT back in 2005; an iconic American singer; a duet between two country music singers; and a powerhouse number by a Canadian legend.
By the way, I recorded my little – and believe me, it’s very little when compared to the others – contribution for this medley thirteen years ago so a few of the gift references mentioned in the piece may appear to be outdated. The point of the “song” remains the same.

Christmas Memories Medley
Henningsens – Ray Lemire – Bing Crosby
Chris Young & Alan Jackson – Celine Dion
Ray – I know you prefer not to have posts about your health on fb — am wondering how you are doing and whether you know when you will be having surgery. If there is anything I can do or if you would like to talk with someone who’s been there Gordie would be more than willing to share his experience with you …. do hope you are doing ok and that 2019 will be a good year for you. Hugs
Your contribution was not little and sadly it was so true 🙁 🙁
Thank you, Nancy. That is very kind of you. ❤
Hi Barb … I’m doing as good as can be expected. I am scheduled for heart surgery on January 8. I sincerely appreciate your concern but I’m optimistic everything will turn out fine … but if it doesn’t, I am at peace with whatever God has planned.
Thank you again, Barb. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ❤
I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers — you have a very skilled team working on your behalf at DHMC — they will do their best. Merry Christmas Ray – love your piece of the medley today – brought back so many wonderful memories of growing up in Springfield …. we were so lucky….
❤
Love ~ <3
That’s what it’s all about … LOVE ❤
Great songs … the best was listening to your voice. I agree things are not what they used to be and I too miss those simpler times. After losing my job a few weeks ago, our Christmas is very slim. I got a few things for my grandson (1st Christmas), am enjoying watching his reactions to everything. He listens to your medley’s with me every morning.
Will be spending Christmas with my boys, their other halves and my little grandson … that is my gift!!!
I see from above that you will be having surgery in a few weeks. You will be in my heart and thoughts on that day … and you will bounce back better than before!!!
Penny, being with your children (and especially little Xander on his first Christmas!) makes it a Christmas you (and they) will never forget. It doesn’t matter the amount or size of the gifts; your “presence” will be their best “present”.
It’s nice knowing I have a little guy listening to the music. Thank you for introducing him to that!
Yes, the surgery date has finally been set. I’m looking forward to feeling well again because I’m getting very tired of being low on energy. But I want you to know I have maintained my smile throughout all of this. 🙂
Thanks for the prayers. I’ll gladly take all I can get. ❤
Great music…wonderful friend…and love …. doesn’t get any better than that! Merry Christmas Ray…and I know I don’t have to say it…but I am going to. My God bless and follow you through the next “adventure”. I know you will be so much better after all is said and done. Take care my friend! <3
Thank you, Suzanne. Merry Christmas … and I believe God will bless me as He always has. ❤
Good stuff! You are much appreciated in this neck of the woods…Happy Holidays, Ray
Thank you, Allison … Very much appreciated. Merry Christmas and best wishes for a Happy 2019.
