Country Music Grammys
We’re traveling through time with female Country Music Grammy Award winners today.
The Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance was first awarded in 1965 and that is where our journey begins. In the beginning, the award was named Best Country & Western Vocal Performance – Female.
Within a few years, the “Country & Western” moniker was changed to Best Country Vocal Performance – Female, and by 1995, it was awarded as Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
In 2012, there was a colossal change when male and female performances were consolidated and named Best Country Solo Performance, thus eliminating the distinctions between male and female performances. This was the result of the Recording Academy’s wish to decrease the list of categories and awards.
Idle Thought: Seems to me they could have just eliminated Rap altogether and been better off, but I digress.
Maybe it’s just me but I think this is amazing Factoid: The winner of the 1997 Grammy was only 13 when she recorded her award winning song!
By the way, it’s important to remember all Grammy Awards reflect the year in which the Grammys were presented, for works released in the previous year.
