Today is a very special day because it was 50 years ago today (8:34AM to be exact) that my oldest daughter, Wendy, was born.

It has been a ride which has gone by much too fast. I don’t want to use an old cliche like “where did the time go?” but yeah, where did the time go? She has created a life filled with special memories, all while radiating joy to those who have come across her path.

I have watched her grow from an inquisitive little girl, fascinated with nature and music, into a women filled with compassion for others; a woman who proudly stands up against bullying, racism and discrimination.
I have watched her grow from a straight A student into an A+ teacher who inspires her students with praise, understanding and love.

She has given me two beloved grandchildren; Dylan and Erin. The life lessons she taught them as young children resulted in two extraordinary adults who captured my heart a long time ago.

I cannot begin to express the amount of respect I have for her and how proud she makes me. She is more than a daughter. She is also one of my best friends, someone I can always count on. Wendy has been a shining light during moments of darkness in my life and I thank God for her every single day of the year.

She is often referred to as my “Beatle Baby” because of her love of my favorite band, but truth be told, she has, over the years, developed a love of so many genres and so, so many diverse musical performers. They included Glen Campbell, Michael Jackson, Prince, Tom Petty, and (sigh ❤️) Andy Gibb.

My first instinct was to play a medley by some of those artists but with the extraordinary help of Erin, I have decided to play a medley by Taylor Swift, a singer Wendy and Erin both love. It was Erin who decided on the song order and I suspect she saved the best song for last because that is exactly how she feels about her mother.

So do I. ❤️
