Today is the 74th birthday of Tony Burrows. The name may not ring a bell but his music should. In 1970, Burrows was a mainstay on the Billboard U.S. charts, singing lead with four different groups … and only one of them (Brotherhood Of Man) was an actual group!
The rest of the “groups” were comprised of session musicians with Burrows singing lead for all of them, and while 1970 was indeed his big year (he holds a Guinness World Record of having four records in the British Top Ten at once, all under different names), he came back in 1974 with another session group and hit the charts again!
So yeah, you know him.
