There actually is a theme to this medley. If you try hard enough, I’m sure you can figure it out before I tell you, but even if you can’t, the music is fantastic!

By the way, if you’re wondering who the guy in the photo is, I can promise you if you lived in the Northeast and listened to radio in the 1960s, you certainly listened to him, and I can also promise he played the songs in this medley.
Boom Boom Brannigan was among the early disc jockeys during the golden era of AM radio. He worked at WPTR in Albany, NY from 1961 to 1976. In all honesty, Brannigan has nothing to with the “mystery” portion of today’s theme. I just felt like talking about him.

Anyway, to today’s radio listeners, Brannigan would be an anachronism.  Budget cuts at local radio stations and the increased reliance on syndicated programs have diminished the profile and relevance of radio personalities.

But man, we have those golden memories, don’t we, kids? And that is why I do what I do!
