“The wonderful thing about music is that it immediately evokes certain eras of one’s life and brings you back to where you’ve been.”
~Donna de Matteo

With summer vacation beginning for me on May 1, I wanted to make sure I focused on something a little different before I ran out of time.
I am going to spend the rest of this week putting together medleys of the songs that made up the soundtrack of MY teenage life. Today I’ll start with 1964, the year music really became important to me.
I probably could have simply played a dozen Beatle songs from that year and been done with it, but as Paul Simon said in the brilliant ‘A Simple Desultory Philippic (Or How I Was Robert McNamara’d Into Submission)’, some of you might have thought “I been Rolling Stoned and Beatled till I’m blind.”
So while the Fab Four were my primary focus, there were others I enjoyed that year, and as you can see, most of it came via the British Invasion.
I hope a few of these songs were, at the very least, a minor part of YOUR soundtrack.
