The term one-hit wonder is most often used to describe music performers with only one Billboard Top 40 hit single. In some cases, the artist had several other “hit” songs that reached the Billboard Hot 100 but failed to hit the Top 40. In other cases, the artist’s one hit was the only time they recorded a song that even came close to charting at all.
