He’s Back Again!

Forget those archives. I’m back with a brand new Friday “Half and Half” party filled with memories that helped to create the soundtrack of your life! Half pop oldies and half classic rock, and this time it really is half and half!

We have songs recorded on this date, songs that were Number One on this date, a really cool backstory, and a lot more! It even includes my prediction on the Super Bowl!

I’ll just say this. It feels great to be back!

Looked through the list of performers & told Ted I wasn’t sure about recognizing songs by The Cure & Shocking Blue but after listening the big surprise was CCR. Neither Ted nor I recognized it. Thought your closing song well chosen. Good medley, well done Ray, thank you πŸ™‚ Have a good Friday & weekend.

Thank you, Lee & Ted ❀❀
The CCR song was released as a single in a lot of countries, but never the U.S. for some bizarre reason. It was part of their “Pendulum” album in 1971.
I’m very glad you enjoyed the music!

What a great Friday and you are back!! I got to tell this story about Steve Tylor!! He came into our gym one day and the police had to shut down our street!! People were trying to get in to see him!! What a great day he was so gracious and we talked about the old days at the Barn when they were first starting and he remembered my (our) band!! The Invaders!! He also gave out a bunch of autographs!! I thought Nancy was going to lose it!! Fun story!! So glad to hear the best voice on air!! You have a gift my friend!! By the way I got the house vacuumed! And danced the whole time!! Glad I had a fully charged air machine!! Great day Ray!! Nothing like 68 years of friendship!!
    Love ya!!

Fred, thanks for sharing that wonderful memory! ❀ By the way, how could anyone who ever heard The Invaders forget them? You had a GREAT band! I am so glad you enjoyed today’s music and I am very pleased you were able to get the vacuuming done! πŸ™‚
68 long, glorious years, my friend!
      Love ya!

  5. Jim & Killian

Killian and I decided that we would try to pick 2 songs, each, that are our favorites in the Pop Oldies and the Classic Rock categories. This proved to be VERY HARD!
    Pop Oldies:
Killian – Little Richard’s “Long Tall Sally” and Beatles’ “I Want to Hold Your Hand”.
Jim – Beatles also and Donovan’s “Catch the Wind”. (I love harmonica, my dad played it, and my dad & I loved sailing)
    Classic Rock:
Killian – The Who’s “Pinball Wizard” (He loves gaming) and of course Aerosmith’s “Livin’ on the Edge”
Jim – Steppenwolf’s “Born to Be Wild” and Dire Straight’s “Sultans of Swing”

Again, we liked so many of these it was really hard.
Thank you for the fun we had! πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ’•πŸ‘

Hey guys! I love your selections, but what I really love is the way all of these songs tie you up in an unbreakable circle! ❀ ❀
Killian is never, and I mean NEVER going to forget these special moments, and truth be told, neither will Papa. ❀ ❀

I’ll just say this, it is great to have you back!! I was unable to listen to this Friday but I had the pleasure and enjoyment πŸ˜‰ of doing so this morning! Aerosmith sure brought back some great memories. My brother Rich and I were bartenders at the time they played at the Savage Beast in Ascutney, Vermont. If the Fire Dept. had stopped by they would have shut us down for sure – we had 4 times the patrons that were allowed to be safely in the place. It was standing room only and the ones that couldn’t get in were dancing in the parking lot!! We had the best seat in the house, got paid for being there and made some unbelievable tips!! They were a fun and enjoyable band to be around. Who new then the successful career that they would have? At the time they were real good that became great and worked hard to achieve their success πŸ™Œ Have a great weekend Ray and hoping that the tests this week gave you some indication of what lies ahead in your next procedures and treatment!

Thank you, Bruce! ❀ Just the words Savage Beast brought back a lot of memories! I’m glad I could rekindle some memories for you!
Aerosmith has come a long way from their humble beginnings. Their performed their first concert at the former Nipmuc Regional High School in Mendon, Mass in 1970, and the event yu mentioned came in 1971. I have to wonder how many in attendance had ANY idea how big that band would become!
This week’s tests did give me an idea of what’s coming down the rad, not all of it good, but I’m not dwelling on the bad news.

It is a Friday, and I did enjoy this half and party, even most of the “Classic” rock!
