The King Again!

Elvis Presley died 46 years ago today.

For years I have played medleys of Presley’s music from the 50s into the 70s on the anniversary of his death. Today I am playing just the music he recorded in the 50s, a decade many music historians say was his best.

It was, without question, the decade he turned the music world upside down. The music in this medley proves why. You won’t hear my voice once in this 38-minute medley. I’m going to let Elvis’ music speak for itself.

Always loved Elvis. My family was on vacation in Maine when Elvis died.

      Thanks, Erron 🥰
It was one of those days most of us will always remember where we were and what we doing when we heard the news.

Oh, this has to be the greatest treat of the day. I loved every single one of these songs, and I actually think I owned most of them on a 45. Should’ve kept those records. I think back to Elvis and what an impact he had on the music industry and the population at large. He really did shake things up. I remember my mom and dad thought he was a complete jerk. But of course, that was not their era. They finally relented and let me buy his music. Thank you for this wonderful medley Ray, I know I haven’t been on much and said much but I’ve been a little busy. And another three weeks or so I will be starting chemotherapy, and then I can go back and listen to all these old is all over again. Thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart. It just means the world to belong to this group and to enjoy what you put out there for us. You’re the best.! 😘

      Thanks, Mary Helen!
After the 50s, I was never much of an Elvis fan (those damn movies took him down), but he truly rocked in the beginning. I shudder to think what the 60s would have been had he not inspired so many musicians.
A very Happy Birthday in heaven! ❤️

Ray, A terrific medley by a true icon! I remember when he first came on Ed Sullivan! My parents jumped up, turned off y the TV and sent us to bed, as it wasn’t proper for young people to watch! How times have changed! Thanks for all you do! I hope to get back to listening again! Been straight for the last 9 months and it’s time to slow down, God willing!!

Peter, thank you so much for your wonderful comments!
My parents felt the same way! Yes, times have certainly changed in our world, not always for the better.
Take care of yourself, my friend.
