When we say Throwback Thursday, we really mean it! Today we start out in 1956 and end with a song recorded in 1944!
We’ve got Grammy Award winners on this date in history, plus an iconic #1 song on this date, too. We have a song that was rejected by 10 record labels until a small label took a chance on it and was rewarded with a massive hit song. That song later became a financial headache for George Harrison.
There’s a lot more in this 11-song, 35-minute trip back in time. Enjoy it all!

Love Ya!
Thank you Ray
I’ve been singing Duke of Earl to Murphy and his eyes are HUGE!! He thinks I’ve gone off the deep end LOL
Have a wonderful day and thank you for starting mine off just right 🙂
Thank you, Eileen 🥰
Maybe Murphy’s eyes were huge because he was incredibly impressed! 🙂
Have a wonderful day!
Terrific mix! This will be another “repeat” medley for me. There are several that I go back to from time to time. Great website Ray…thank you!
Thank you, Jim, I appreciate your very kind words! 🥰
Wow, this was super today. 1962, one of my favorite years in music and, oh what memories. We were all turning 16, with drive-in movies and out of town dances on Friday & Saturday nights. The original version of This Land Is Your Land, certainly makes you think about everything that is happening today. Very little land in Vermont today that doesn’t have “No Trespassing” on it.
Thanks, Pat 🥰
Yeah, you have a ton of memories from that year! As for Woody’s song, there still isn’t a lot to be happy about in America for some people, especially the Native Americans Woody wrote about.
What a varied mix
Your music medleys and backstories give me peace, love and often what my heart desires musically!

Thanks, Mary Helen 🥰
I’m happy to see you have taken my “sign off” to a beautiful level. 🥰
Thank you, Ray. All the songs were great, I especially liked the Guthrie’s.
Thanks, Linda ❤
I’m always happy to know you (and Rudy) enjoyed the music. 🙂
