Elvis 1950s Medley

Today would have been the 88th birthday of Elvis Presley.

For years I have played medleys of Presley’s music from the 50s into the 70s on his birthday and on the anniversary of his death. Today I am playing just the music he recorded in the 50s, a decade many music historians say was his best.

It was, without question, the decade he turned the music world upside down. The music in this medley proves why. You won’t hear my voice once in this 38-minute medley. Sorry, but I’m going to let Elvis’ music speak for itself.

A little rockabilly, rhythm & blues leading to the rock n roll era all were evident in today’s medley. Weren’t we born at the right time? I told Ted you ended the medley with his song. Nice tribute to Elvis’ early years. 🙂 🙂 Lee & Ted

      Thanks, Lee and Ted 🥰
Although I wasn’t enamored with much of his stuff from 1965 on, Elvis Presley changed the musical world in the 50s. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for taking us back! I’d forgotten some of those and loved, loved loved some of the others. Have a nice day.

What a great trip, back, and to listen to the progression of style and sound of the king of music Elvis Presley! I remember when I first saw him as a young kid, and my mom wasn’t gonna let me watch him on TV because she thought he was indecent. LLOL mom lol! Later in time, I was always so sad to learn that he had become so managed and on drugs and just really ruined his own career and life! You are so right that the 50s support his best decade. There will never be another singer like him, although many people try to imitate. Thank you for this great tribute, and I agree with you on the music! Happy birthday, Elvis!

      Thank you, Sandy 🥰
The very early fame and a ruthless manager both played key roles in Presley’s rise and decline. I’m glad you enjoyed the music!

loved this, as you know, love Elvis. I agree he wasn’t the same after the early 60’s. I will save this to play later, and thanks, Ray.

What great music by the number one of all time!! Had things been a bit different for him here and there, I believe his personal and professional life would have turned out so much different and maybe he wouldn’t have died so young but we will never know! I do know that sharing his beautiful voice with us was/is timeless!
I loved most all of his songs but some of my favorites are gospel songs … had the voice of an angel!

      Thanks, Penny 🥰
The life of Elvis was both amazing and terribly sad. His music changed the course of rock and roll but he could have also been such a major film star if his manager hadn’t saddled him with such hokey films. I believe by 1977 he had checked into his real life heartbreak hotel.
      All very sad.
