If you were around in 1964, it was easy to think the only music coming out of your radio were songs played by British groups. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Animals, Kinks and Searchers all delivered one smash hit after another.
In reality, however, American artists more than held their own. Today’s medley proves that. It is packed with hits!

1964 American Hits
Roy Orbison – Dixie Cups – Temptations
Diane Renay – Hondells – Supremes
Bobby Vinton – Lorne Greene – Bob Dylan
What a way to start!! What a shame we didn’t have Roy around longer!! Who would have thought a group named The Dixie Cups would be so darn good!! Ray the way you do the things you do I swear you did the things you wanted to do!! I love the background music in Diane Renays songs!! I looked up her band and I must say some pretty darn good names!! I believe she won Star Search 3 times!! So I must say I’m as blue as I can be!! First gear is alright But Ray they were riding a Honda!! Baby Baby is another great song with fantastic back ground music!! I never thought Bobby V was going to make it but Ray he sealed it with a Kiss!! Didn’t Lorne Greene do the theme for Bonanza!! Loved Ringo!! What can anybody say about Mr. Dylan!! I remember havingto look up the words for some of his hits as I couldn’t understand him!! And he sure was right the times are a changein’!! Ray these all were hits and this is what were all about!! Stay warm!! Love ya!!
Thank you, Fred. Wow, you were on fire today!

Thanks, Mary Helen. Music is always the answer!
I saw ’64, and had to find a way to listen! Great song and great memories. Had a few minutes of alone time, so happy!!
Thank you, Pat. If you’re happy, I’m very happy! ❤️
Way to go! My neighbor (a few years older than me) cuts hair at old people homes (Ha Ha). I send her some of your mixes and she is playing them while she is doing her thing. She will now be known as the “Rockin’ Hair Stylist”!
Thank you for giving me this gift to share.
You the Man!
Jim, I really appreciate you spreading the sounds!
I remember 1964 so well! The year of my first son’s birth, and a whole New World for me. All the music I listen to a lot just due to some of the times that I had that I would normally not of been sitting listening to music. Loved all of these songs. You outdid yourself on this one! So good may have to go back and listen to it a second time. Thanks Ray!
Sandy, you have a very eloquent way with words. Your comments are always so lovely. Thank you. ❤️
