Thanksgiving Medley

Today I’m stepping away from rock and roll memories. With Thanksgiving just a day away, it’s a good time to remember all the reasons we have to be grateful.
I know 2020 has been a long year, filled with more problems than we ever could have imagined, but if you stop for just one minute to reflect on the good things in your life, you’ll see what I mean.

By the way, this is not my last word on Thanksgiving. I’ll be back with more tomorrow! 🙂

Well Ray, there you go getting all serious on us but that’s OK, it is a good time to step back and count our blessings. I joke about not liking the mellow but there is a time and place for everything and Keith & Johnny said it all for me. I feel it is very important to recognize the people who matter the most in your life. I have so much to be thankful for in my life. I hope I can convey my deep love and gratitude to all who love and support me. Like Louis Armstrong sang, What a Wonderful World.
P.S. I don’t want to get all mushy here but thank you for helping me and many others remember the great times we had through the music we love.

Don, I don’t know when I have read a comment that meant more to me than yours did today. Just as you do, I lean to the rock and roll side of life but when the times dictate, I have no problem switching to something a little more meaningful. Thanksgiving is one of those times.
With everything that has happened this year, it’s easy to forget we have so very many reasons to be thankful. I hope this medley reminds people how fortunate we all are.
As for your final sentence, well, that one got to me. I am truly humbled by your words. Thank you so much.

Another great medley!! A great way to start the Thanksgiving weekend, have listened twice and will continue to listen through out the day! A great end with Louis Armstrong ……. “what a wonderful world” .. even with everything going on in the world, there are so many things to be grateful for, so many beautiful things to see and hear and this song sums it up! And thank you Ray for giving us all a wonderful world thru the music you continue to share! You are a wonderful man – have a safe and happy Thanksgiving – you deserve it!

      Thank you, Penny ❤️
I couldn’t think of a better way to end the medley other than playing Louis. That song was, I hope, a very strong reminder that no matter how tough this year has been for everyone, it still is a wonderful world.
Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving and may God bestow His blessings upon you.

Fred, thank you. All things considered, we are all fortunate in many, many ways.

This is such an appropriate and grounding reminder as we head into Thanksgiving. Yes, it will look so different for so many but we must focus on the true blessings that have shone through this weird and challenging year. You always boast how positive I am which is sweet though not always completely correct because I’m human. I will say I am able, most of the time, to look for that light, the hope, the love. I think this came from your examples while growing up and still to this day. Thanks for this medley and keeping our perspectives in check while also filling our hearts with special memories and warmth. I love you so much and am ever so grateful for you, in so MANY ways, during Thanksgiving and beyond. XOXOXOXO

      Thank you, Wendyl ❤️
Yes, you are human but you always manage to make it look so good!
The light you mentioned is, I believe, within all of us. If we take the time to focus on the blessings each one of us has, our light will shine for others to see. With that will come hope and love.
What I do here every day is nothing special (but thank you). My only goal is to make people smile. I truly believe that is my destiny, my role in this thing we call life. When I was at my lowest about 20 years ago, I felt I had nothing to offer but a voice told me God wasn’t done with me yet. I thank Him every day for that message.
You speak of memories. Do you have any idea how many you and your children have given me? They are countless; each one of them makes my heart sing. I am a blessed man.
      XOXOXOXO

These songs are perfect. Thank you and thank you God for the gift of music and Ray who gives us so much more than music..

Gratefulness…something we should practice every day. There is so much we find to complain about. There is so much ugly, so much sadness and pain. But even in the worst of times there are things we can find to be grateful about. The songs you chose today exemplify that fact. So I am grateful for your gift to us today and every day. I know many of us are feeling sorry for ourselves because we can’t celebrate in the usual way but we CAN still celebrate and be grateful for those we still have in our lives, grateful to have known those who have left us and remember that God is watching over us and gifting us with His grace. We are not alone. So blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours no matter where and who is at your table.

Donna, what a beautiful commentary! You have your heart in the right place.
      We Are Not Alone!
Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️

This medley was just perfect today. So grateful that you came into my life thru facebook. This year has been so hard in so many ways, but I always have your music & your inspirational words, to pick me up when I feel down. Thanks, Ray, for all that you do, and thanks, also to all the people above for putting into words what I, too, am feeling.

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thank you, Pat ❤️
I am so grateful we connected. Although we have never met face-to-face, I have always felt we have a special friendship, probably because we share the same values. 2020 has been very difficult for many of us but it soon will pass and we will all be the better for outlasting it.
May God bestow His glorious blessings on you.
      Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks, Ray, and may God bless you, also.
