One December morning in 2005, I had some time to spare before the 6:00 start of the ‘Heather & Ray Show‘ and decided there was enough of that extra time to record something special.
It was Santa’s Secret, written by Betty Werth in 1988 for her 4-year old son. As it turned out, recording her extraordinary poem was time well spent because I have replayed it every year for fourteen years. I hope the words touch your heart.

So very beautiful! And heartwarming! This poem is a must to share, especially in this world we are living in today. A great message for every day of the year. Thank you for sharing. And now I must go and share it again! Merry Christmas to you and yours Ray! <3
Suzanne, thank you for the kind words. Merry Christmas!
How very lovely! We need goosebumps like that all year long!
Mary, thank you so much. 🙂
This is the best Christmas secret ever! Could listen to you talk all day Ray. What a heartwarming story that we all need to share with each other. Thank you so much, as this is truly a gift! XOXO
Sandy, you just made my day!
I’m not sure listening to me talk all day would be good but I do thank you the compliment. 🙂
Listened twice today Ray, this is so heartfelt and heartwarming i treasure the time I hear it each year! Thank you for this remarkable gift! ☃️❤️🎄
Thank you, Sue. I am very happy it brings you so much joy! 🎄
Burl Ives was always my favorite story teller Ray but you have surpassed his voice. You have a way of saying things from your heart by way of words and speech.
We all need to take a step towards your words but you must continue to share such stories in the future
Maybe we can try and change this world. Thank you and peace and joy to you and your family all year round 💙
Patty, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will never be a Burl Ives but thank you for the ultimate compliment.
Merry Christmas! ❤
“Master”, only you and your amazing voice could make that poem so great!…Thank you.
Bob, you’ll never know how big my smile was after reading your comment. Your words were very kind (and very typical) of you.
Thank YOU!
Oh Ray that is the magic of Christmas – it’s not what we get that makes us feel good …. it’s what we give. I’m reposting this to my fb page as it needs to be shared … thank you so much … my day is richer for listening to this… I’m reminded of what really matters in life ….
Thank you, Barbara. Putting that piece together (and the reactions it received) is one of the best memories of my years in radio.
and there are about to be more memories Ray … I’m looking forward to 2020 ….. and to listening to the Saturday morning show with Heather and Ray ….
I’m looking forward to that, too. 🙂
Do you realize that if you are listening to this & the picture above begins at the nose it looks like 2 Santas looking at each other? Maybe it’s just my eyes but…….
Lee, I have looked (and looked) and I have to confess I don’t see it … but I’m going to keep trying. 🙂
Sorry I missed a lot this week, as have been running around with my newest Rescue bird as it has health issues. But am playing catch-up….this brought tears to my eyes, This is amazing just like you. <3
Nancy, never a need to worry about missing some of the stuff I publish. Life gets busy 🙂
I hope your sick bird is feeling better. 🙂
And I appreciate your kind words regarding the poem.
Merry Christmas! ❤
This touched my heart immensely❣️ Hearing the words, and hearing them read with your voice, brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful Christmas message❤️🎅🎄🤶💚
